On Tuesday, the police apprehended a woman in Miami for firing shots at a vehicle containing her ex-boyfriend and their daughter, following a domestic dispute.
The woman, identified as Louella Harrell, 35, of Miami, engaged in a verbal altercation with the man, identified as the father of her child in the arrest report.
The situation escalated when Harrell physically attacked him after opening the door of her gray Honda Pilot, according to Miami police.
During the altercation, Harrell threatened to retrieve her firearm, as stated in the report. As she continued to assault her ex-boyfriend, his current partner attempted to separate them.
This same individual also took hold of Harrell’s daughter and tried to drive away from the scene with both the man and the child in the vehicle.
At this moment, Harrell allegedly seized a silver and black gun from her waistband and discharged one round at the vehicle, causing the driver’s side window to shatter. Fortunately, no one sustained any injuries during the incident.
Following the shooting, Harrell fled the scene but was located near the 3100 block of Northwest 55th Street by Miami-Dade Police just before 12:30 a.m.
Harrell was subsequently taken into custody for questioning. She acknowledged her involvement in the incident but claimed she was acting in self-defense, according to the report.
Harrell is now facing charges including three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and one count each of burglary with assault or battery, child abuse with no great bodily harm, and shooting or throwing a deadly missile.
She is currently being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Wednesday.
