A 31-year-old woman from Miami, Lindsay Valcin, was arrested on Tuesday after a disturbing incident in which she allegedly fatally abused her Yorkshire terrier and disposed of its body in a dumpster.
The brutal act was reported by a concerned neighbor in Liberty City, who recorded the cruelty on video. The incident took place at an apartment building located at 750 NW 69th St. on the evening of November 29.
The neighbor’s video apparently captured Valcin, partially unclothed, repeatedly striking the small dog while using offensive language. The distressing sounds of the dog screeching and crying during the attack could be heard in the recording.
In the video, Valcin can be seen slamming the dog against a glass door, grabbing it by the tail and head, and using a red shopping cart to forcefully impact the dog’s body. Following the brutal assault, the lifeless Yorkie was left on the balcony.
Initially, when questioned by the police and a Miami-Dade Animal Services investigator, Valcin falsely claimed that the dog was with her mother, later changing her story to say it had been stolen.
However, CCTV footage later revealed Valcin throwing a black bag containing the dogās body into a dumpster.
Valcin is facing a felony charge for animal cruelty with the intent to injure or kill and is currently held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond.
This case sheds light on a deeply disturbing act of violence against a vulnerable animal, sparking strong reactions from the community and animal rights advocates.
