Due to his illegal immigration status, a Mexican national who killed his fiancée was sentenced to 39 years in prison in Michigan on Thursday. The crime was abruptly brought into the U.S. presidential contest.
“The actions I took on the night of March 22 do not define who my people are. I apologize with the utmost respect to all immigrants from all walks of life,” Brandon Ortiz Vite stated to a judge in Grand Rapids.
The 26-year-old Ortiz Vite entered a guilty plea to murder and other offenses in September. On the side of the Grand Rapids freeway, Ruby Garcia was discovered dead from gunshot wounds.
According to police, Ortiz Vite shot her in the head, took her body out of the vehicle, and drove off as they were in a car on U.S. 131, where they were fighting over their relationship.
The Biden administration was publicly criticized by former President Donald Trump last spring for failing to keep Ortiz Vite out of the nation following his deportation in 2020.

Ortiz Vite was informed by Judge Mark Trusock, “You, sir, are a cold-blooded murderer. This is an intentional crime, and you are a danger to society.”
According to Ortiz Vite, he was under the influence of drugs that day. He remarked, “I can’t explain my mind that night. However, deep down within, I knew I was wrong.”
