As his wedding day approaches, a Mississippi lineman has given up his time to assist those in need with Hurricane Milton recovery efforts.
“We found out last Monday that he was leaving Wednesday of last week,” Emily Holder, fiancĂ©e to lineman Brady Creel stated.
Holder stated that although they both anticipated this request, they hoped it wouldn’t occur so near to their wedding.
“It was a little disappointing because you want your partner to be involved in all the things leading up to the wedding, but thankfully, all of the big things were already settled, and he didn’t leave a lot of stress on me,” Holder stated.
Holder informed that two crews had already been dispatched to assist with the cleanup of Hurricane Helene before Creel’s, and they suspected he would be dispatched as soon as it was anticipated that Milton would have an impact.
“This is what he wants to do,” Holder stated. “He’s always going to be the type of person that gives to others and puts other people before him. I’m very proud of him,” Holder stated in an interview with WDAM.
After nearly two years of dating, Holder and Creel have spent the last 14 months organizing their wedding. Creel is currently in Wauchula, Florida, assisting with the restoration of power following Hurricane Milton, less than a week away from exchanging vows.

Holder went on to say that although Creel had been offered the chance to skip this trip, he chose to jump in and assist those in need in spite of his impending wedding.
She also mentioned that because Creel works 16 hours a day and has limited service, she hasn’t had much opportunity to talk to them. Richton, Mississippi will host their wedding on October 19.
“My aunt that lives outside of Orlando will be picking him up Wednesday afternoon and making the 10.5-hour drive home,” Holder stated.
