BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — The Boynton Beach Police Department says that a mother was shot at in front of her 5-year-old son outside of her house.
Around 10:11 p.m. on April 23, the Boynton Beach Police Department was called to Southern Cross Circle because someone had been shot.
An arrest report says that when the cops arrived, they saw several gun rounds in the road in front of the apartment building.
Officers talked to the victim, who told them that Daral Montgomery, the father of her child, shot at her and then left the area before the officers got there.
According to the arrest record, the victim was scared and wouldn’t help the police. Instead, she told the men that she would talk to them the next day.
The Boynton Beach Police Department did talk to the 5-year-old son, the arrest record says. According to the report, he told police that he was with his father at the time of the shooting and that his father was driving him to his mother’s house.
The boy said his parents got into a verbal fight over the phone, which continued when they went to his mother’s house.
The story says that the boy saw his father holding a gun and that as his mother ran into her apartment, the father started shooting at her.
The boy then ran after his mother, the story says, and went into the room with her.
Police were able to figure out that Montgomery, who is 29 years old, was the suspect. A check of his criminal records showed that Montgomery has been convicted of eight felonies and is a known gang member.
According to the police record, Montgomery was charged with trying to kill someone in the second degree with a gun and one count of being a criminal with a gun (connected to a gang).
