Authorities are alerting the public of deceptive leaflets and solicitations that seem to be affiliated with the My Safe Florida Home (MSFH) initiative and that advertise free windows and roofs.

Through My Safe Florida Home (MSFH), homeowners can apply for grants of up to $10,000 to improve the storm resistance of their homes and perhaps lower their home insurance costs. Since the initiative proved to be popular, state lawmakers have increased funding for it.

On the other hand, it is anticipated that Florida premiums will increase by 7%, making the average premium $11,759.

The Chief Financial Officer of Florida, who is in charge of the program, reports that there have been cases where thieves have left victims footing the bill for repairs after falsely claiming that victims had registered for it but weren’t qualified or authorized.
