Police Apprehend Miami Man for Stealing Hundreds of Gallons of Diesel Fuel

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) –
A guy from Miami was caught stealing 658 liters of diesel gasoline from a 7-Eleven store in Port St. Lucie. The store was located in Florida.

People from the city have been suspected of committing crimes involving grand theft in this region for the second time in a span of fewer than seven days.

Officers from the Port St. Lucie police department rushed to the Saint Lucie West 7-Eleven on Thursday afternoon and found 29-year-old Jose Barrios Pizarro pouring fuel into a spare gas tank that was located in the bed of his vehicle. Based on the information provided by the Port St. Lucie police department, Pizarro was placed under arrest.

According to reports, Pizarro attempted to run from the authorities when they arrived on the scene by getting into his truck and driving away, but he did not go very far before he was taken to jail.

During the course of the inquiry, the police discovered a key in a nearby trash can. This key allowed Pizzaro to get access to the inner electronic portions of the gas pump. Once he had this access, he was able to install a system that enabled him to take significant volumes of gasoline at a fraction of the cost.

According to the investigators, a total of $1967 and 658 gallons of fuel were stolen over the course of three distinct occurrences and days.

Pizarro is being charged with grand larceny, accessing a computer without authorization, and participating in an organized plot to steal.
