The body of a woman whose remains were discovered on Long Island crammed inside a suitcase has been recognized by Suffolk County police.

The body of Seikeya Jones was discovered in the rear of a Huntington apartment complex, according to Suffolk County police. According to authorities, the horrifying find was made in a forested area near Nassau Road in Huntington just before noon on Tuesday.

The manner of the 31-year-old’s death is still being investigated by the medical examiner. As the mystery surrounding Jones’ whereabouts developed, those who knew her stopped by the location where she was discovered on Thursday.

“We called her Keya,” Mary Waldron stated. “She was a really sweet girl. She was always smiling. She was always happy.”

Reporters were informed by Waldron that Jones “changed and kind of ended up on the streets” after encountering some difficulties. Nevertheless, her friends made an effort to stay in touch with her.

Jones was reported missing last month, and the police verified that she was homeless. Her acquaintances claimed that this was not the first time she had been reported missing.

The doorbell video that seemed to show Jones entering the apartment building where she was discovered last week with an unidentified man was displayed by the building’s residents. That it was Jones in the grainy video was confirmed by two persons who knew her.

Police have not yet stated whether the individual is related to their ongoing investigation.

The Homicide Squad detectives of the Suffolk County Police are asking anyone with information to call them at (631) 852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
