The Broward Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday that a man in Pompano Beach on Thursday afternoon shot and murdered his ex-wife before turning the pistol on himself.

Just before 12:30 p.m., according to the authorities, they went to a gunfire report at Pier Street and Seabreeze Way.

Deputies reported that upon arriving, they discovered Yadviga McConville, whose age was made public by Marsy’s ordinance, deceased on the spot. Additionally, they verified that Fort Lauderdale resident Sergey Moiseenko, 44, was taken to Broward Health North and later passed away from gunshot wounds.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that Moiseenko shot the victim before turning the gun on himself,” BSO stated.

According to court documents, McConville was Moiseenko’s spouse up until 2020, when the two filed for divorce. Nonetheless, a number of motions were submitted in the year after the divorce. Since then, all documents have been labeled as “confidential.”

The aftermath was documented on cellphone video that was retrieved on Thursday. It showed McConville’s body being covered by a yellow tarp next to a pier, while Moiseenko was being brought away on a stretcher.

The pair had entered a company clearly unhappy, and the shooting happened around 11 a.m., according to a worker at a nearby eatery.

“The woman walked out, stormed off and the man followed — possibly with a bag,” the worker stated. “Five seconds later, gunshots rang out.”

The violence surprised the usually bustling neighborhood.

“It’s a neighborhood — usually vibrant and busy — but nothing like this,” according to a Pompano Beach resident. “We’re shaken up. I don’t know how to feel right now.”

At this point, investigators have not revealed a motive. The family of McConville wrote a letter to Local 10 News on Friday, expressing their “devastation” and requesting privacy at this time.
