Pro-Palestinian Protesters Disrupt Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, 21 Arrested

Before the NYPD intervened to clear the route in Manhattan, a group of demonstrators momentarily stopped the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Twenty-one demonstrators who supported Palestine were taken into custody. The group briefly halted the procession by running in front of the Ronald McDonald float for the second consecutive year.

Just after 9:30 a.m. this year, they leaped the barricades at West 55th Street.

“Free, free Palestine!” was chanted by several sitting on the ground with their arms clasped together.

Behind them, others raised a poster that said, “Don’t celebrate genocide! “Arms embargo now.” The momentary disruption caused the crowd to boo the protestors, then cheer as the cops gathered them up and took them away.

The removal of the 21 protesters from the road caused a five-minute delay in the march.
