After a short car chase in a stolen pickup truck, the suspect was taken into custody. It took place in the northern part of Miami-Dade County late on Thursday afternoon.

When the black GMC Denali left the westbound lanes of State Road 826 and headed south on I-95, police say they saw it. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Broward County.

The truck pulled off at Northwest 12th Avenue, according to the authorities, and the driver, 35-year-old Joseph Gianino, tried to stop it, but he accelerated, hit another car, and returned to driving on SR 826, this time eastward.

According to authorities, Gianino struck three additional cars as the truck got closer to the Golden Glades junction but continued driving. He then struck a box truck once again, which caused the stolen pickup to roll onto its right side.

Police say they were able to apprehend Gianino after he originally attempted to leave the area.

He was previously on probation for running away and dodging authorities, therefore he is being kept in jail on a number of felony counts, according to police.
