Robbery Suspect's Escape Attempt Ends in Deadly Crash in NW Miami-Dade

On Thursday in northwest Miami-Dade, a tragic incident unfolded as a man lost his life in a collision. The incident occurred while law enforcement officers were trying to apprehend an individual who had fled from a robbery.

The initial response from the Miami-Dade Police took place at a Chevron gas station situated on Northwest 54th Street.

At this location, a man engaged in a physical struggle with a victim while attempting to steal her purse, as explained by spokesperson Angel Rodriguez.

Subsequently, officers made an effort to halt the suspect’s vehicle as it attempted to evade them. Regrettably, the vehicle refused to comply with the officers’ commands, leading to a decision by law enforcement to discontinue the pursuit.

The situation took a tragic turn when the vehicle involved in the chase eventually crashed, occurring at approximately 6 p.m. in the vicinity of Northwest 58th Street and 15th Avenue, according to Rodriguez.

City of Miami Fire Rescue paramedics were swiftly dispatched to the scene and had to perform an extrication procedure to remove the man from the wrecked vehicle.

Following this, the injured individual was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced deceased. As of now, the police have not disclosed any information regarding the man’s age or identity.
