A clash between two vehicles on the Westside resulted in a collision and subsequent police chase that concluded in Northwest Jacksonville, according to law enforcement sources.
At 3:30 AM on Thursday, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Officers were present to witness the exchange of gunfire, which occurred within the 10000 block of 103rd Street.
Following the incident, one of the cars involved crashed, carrying two occupants, as confirmed by the police.
One of the individuals from the crashed car was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening, while the other individual was apprehended.
The second vehicle implicated in the shootout fled the scene, prompting a pursuit by officers that extended for approximately 10 minutes until reaching the intersection of Golfair Boulevard and Interstate 95, as reported by JSO.
An incident report filed by JSO states that, “the pursuit traveled 103rd St, State Rd. 23, I-10, Hammond Blvd, Crystal Springs Rd., Chaffee Rd, Normandy Blvd, State Rd. 23, I-10, I-95 N, and Golfair Blvd at speeds up to 130mph.”
A police officer employed their vehicle to halt the aforementioned car, which had four occupants.
Upon the car’s interception by the police, all four individuals swiftly exited the vehicle and fled.
Subsequently, an officer employed their vehicle to obstruct one of the fleeing individuals, leading to their apprehension, as reported by JSO. The remaining three individuals were also apprehended.
Authorities are presently conducting interviews with all six individuals implicated in the incident, consisting of five men and one woman, to ascertain whether any charges will be filed.
JSO confirmed that no officers sustained any injuries during this event.
