When actor Ryan Reynolds showed up to welcome a small child receiving cancer treatment at a Boston hospital, it was somewhat unexpected.

The 8-year-old Nash was taken aback by the “Deadpool and Wolverine” actor on Friday when he was receiving treatment for a rare type of cancer at Mass General Hospital for Children.

It all began when Reynolds received a photo of Nash’s son’s radiation mask, adorned to resemble Reynolds’ superhero alter ego, Deadpool, from Nash’s mother. In response, Reynolds said he would want to meet Nash in Boston.

It was an unexpected visit all around.

In addition to signing Nash’s mask, Reynolds also set up a Facetime chat with his co-star Hugh Jackman on “Deadpool and Wolverine” so that Jackman could speak with Nash.

Wishing that every child in need of treatment could get it here, Reynolds wrote on X, the former Twitter platform, about the meeting. And I wish all parents could entrust their sick child to the care of someone this competent. You are the finest, Nash.

I adore you, friend.
