Des Moines, Iowa – After going missing after meeting up with a stranger in Iowa, an adolescent from Arizona has been located, and an arrest has been announced, according to authorities.
On Friday at approximately 3:15 p.m., the 17-year-old was discovered in Ankney, Iowa, according to the Gila River Police Department.
No harm came to her.
The FBI apprehended Malachi Reed, a young man of twenty years of age.
On August 6, the girl’s relatives from the Gila River Indian Reservation, which is located just south of the Valley, became concerned and reported her missing. This was the beginning of everything.
Based on her online interactions with Reed, she allegedly purchased plane tickets and departed from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport bound for Des Moines, Iowa.
In their search for the girl, law enforcement from Arizona worked in tandem with their Iowa counterparts and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Ankeny is a Des Moines suburb; nevertheless, the police did not disclose how they located her.
Our shared dedication to ending the epidemic of Indigenous peoples’ disappearance and murder is reaffirmed by the swift action and concerted efforts of all relevant agencies.
Gila River Police Chief Jesse Crabtree expressed his gratitude in a written statement to his team and partner agencies for their unwavering commitment in finding and securely returning Liliana home.
Reed’s exact charges remain unknown.
