After he allegedly got on top of a female sunbather and began “thrusting against her,” Santa Monica police apprehended the man.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at approximately 1:30 p.m. on the Santa Monica State Beach 1300 block, as reported by the Santa Monica Police Department.

According to officials, a police officer was waved down by lifeguards from Los Angeles County after a woman was allegedly molested while sunbathing.

According to the victim, an unidentified man got on top of her and began pressing his body up against hers. The suspect left after she and her sister were able to push him away and summon assistance.

Police received a description of the culprit from the victim and witnesses, and they located a man who fit the description not far away.

The man was recognized as 25-year-old homeless man Alonzo Dickson. The victim recognized the man they had arrested as her purported attacker, according to the police.

Dickson was taken into custody and is being prosecuted for the offense of sexual battery with constraint. Dickson, according to the police, has at least one active criminal case in Washington State but no known criminal history in California.

As part of their investigation into the assault in Santa Monica, detectives are looking into that occurrence.

Those who possess knowledge regarding Dickson or the purported attack are requested to get in touch with SMPD Detective Nicole Murphy via email or by giving the SMPD Watch Commander a call at 310-458-8427.

Dickson is anticipated to appear in court on Thursday and is now being held by the Santa Monica Police Department.

The mayor of Santa Monica has called for increased police presence after the city made national news this year due to a number of violent incidents that occurred both on the beach and in the neighborhood.

Another homeless guy with a criminal record for sexual assault was taken into custody in June after he was accused of attacking three women on Santa Monica State Beach. The guy in question, 32-year-old Jawann Dwayne Garnett, is charged with attempted murder after it was alleged that he attempted to drown one of his purported victims.

Jail records indicate that Garnett is scheduled to appear in court next month and is currently being held without bond.
