Sen. Mike Braun Opts Out of Tuesday's Gubernatorial Debate

Only five of the six contenders for governor will be present in the final debate before next month’s primary election, as Senator and Indiana gubernatorial candidate Mike Braun has withdrawn from the GOP gubernatorial discussion scheduled for Tuesday night.

U.S. Senator Mike Braun (R-Ind.) withdrew from the Indiana Debate Commission’s 2024 debate on Monday night due to his scheduled vote-taking trip to Washington, D.C., according to a release from the commission. The legislation on which the senator will vote was not made clear in the publication.

Braun might still be able to make it back in time to take part in the debate, the commission continued, provided that the voting concluded on time.

The debate will be moderated by Jon Schwantes, host of “Indiana Lawmakers,” on PBS. At IUPUI’s Hine Hall Auditorium, the event is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and last until 8:30 p.m.
