The 252nd District Court will sentence a lady on Monday after she acknowledged shaking her child, which resulted in serious injuries.

Terri Gallien, a Beaumont resident, faces a first-degree felony charge of injury to a child after her child needed to be airlifted to the hospital due to severe injuries.

Gallien brought her head traumatized toddler to St. Elizabeth Hospital on February 6, 2021. The injuries, according to medical records, were “consistent with inflicted trauma.”

After that, the young patient was brought to Texas Children’s Hospital and given an admission to the intensive care unit. Gallien claimed that when she was filling bottles, she heard her infant whimper and knew something wasn’t right.

At first, she denied harming her kid. Gallien acknowledged in the probable cause affidavit that she had shaken the infant, which is how the injuries came about.

Gallien consented to take a polygraph test, and the findings showed that she had lied, so she failed. The child’s “head went back and forth” when she rocked it, she said in a letter to a Beaumont sergeant.

Gallien may spend five to 99 years or maybe life in prison if the jury finds her guilty.
