September Social Security Checks: Expect Delays, Officials Confirm

September Social Security Checks Expect Delays, Officials Confirm

A few Social Security recipients in the United States will receive their September check a little later than normal. Precisely speaking, three groups will receive their checks a little later rather than in the customary September week.

It is also true that we have to consider the fact that there are no irregularities in the payment calendar in this regard, but the payment does arrive during the third week of the month. It is common for Social Security retirees who retired after May 1997 to get their first payment on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday of the month.

September: Later in September, Social Security benefits are received

There’s one thing about this that we can’t overlook. The only difference is that the pre-May 1997 retiree group receives their payout on a different day than the remaining group.

Additionally, there are occasionally outliers to this group’s payment day; nevertheless, there are no anomalies for this particular group in September 2024.

Therefore, people who received a Social Security payment after May 1997 are eligible to receive it one week later, i.e., those who do not receive it during the second week of September. As a result, we locate them for this group with the following payment days:

  • Social Security benefits for retirees after May 1997 began on September 11th. Additionally, one must be born between the first and the tenth of the month.
  • Social Security benefits for pensioners born after May 1997 are due on September 18. Also necessary are birthdays that fall between the 11th and the 20th of the month.
  • Social Security benefits for pensioners born after May 1997 are due on September 25. Additionally, you must be born between the 21st and the 31st of the current month.

Looking at the September calendar, we can see that, since the first of the month is Sunday, the eleventh day really falls within the third week of the month. That being said, it won’t matter because all qualified citizens receive their checks on the same day.

To receive the payment as quickly as possible, don’t forget to enable Direct Deposit. Social Security will still pay the retirement check on the same day for all beneficiaries if you choose not to activate this option, but it will arrive a bit later.
