MIRAMAR, FLA. – Nicole Alejandro, the mother of a three-year-old child who was discovered walking alone in Miramar, appeared in court on Tuesday and posted a bail in the amount of $10,000.
The police said that this was not the first time they had interacted with the mother and kid in question.
In the year 2021, the little child came dangerously close to passing out in the backyard pool.
The child was discovered by the authorities on Monday at about three in the morning next to a lake. After that, the Miramar Police Department put up a video on Twitter in an effort to find her parents.
Alejandro was taken into custody and brought before the judge on charges of child neglect without significant physical injury.
The mother, who is 27 years old, reportedly informed the authorities that she “knocked herself out” when her daughter strayed outside the house.
When authorities found out in October 2021 that the youngster had drowned after falling into a pool, the charges took on a more sinister tone. At the time of the event, she was just 1 years old.
A male was heard saying, “There was a near-drowning incident involving Ms. Alejandro and this child.”
According to the complaint filed by the police in 2021, Alejandro was talking to a friend on the phone when she suddenly heard a splash. The mother reported to the authorities that she thought her daughter had spent four minutes in the pool.
According to what was written in the report, as the mother turned back, her daughter was floating face down in the pool, unresponsive, and not breathing. Her mother said that she was quite fair and blue in color. She then began to conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation on her in order to revive her.
According to the complaint, the youngster was sobbing and a fluid that seemed to be froth was pouring from her nose when the police arrived.
The mother was taken into custody as a result of the earlier incident.
According to the officer who made the arrest, Alejandro questioned when she would be released from custody and did not seem to show any emotion or regret for the event.
Alejandro was photographed by cameras from 7News as she walked out of prison on Tuesday. She will now be required to go through a mental health evaluation, and until Child Protective Services decides what the next step will be, she will not be permitted to visit her daughter.
According to the report filed by the police, Alejandro’s parents play an important part in their son’s life and are now attempting to win custody of him.
