A growing number of Social Security users are dependent on retirement benefits, so retirees eagerly await their next check. But unless you meet the requirements, you won’t be able to get the next payment.
Social Security establishes rigorous guidelines to ensure that only qualified individuals receive this monthly benefit. On September 18, the September retirees’ next payment will be deposited into their bank accounts.
To be eligible for Social Security, were you born before the 21st and after the 10th?
Only eligible applicants who can respond “yes” to the preceding query will be able to receive funds from the Administration. Therefore, on September 18, 2024, individuals who were born between the eleventh and the twentieth will get their monthly payout.
Of course, you are eligible for the October 3 payment but not the September 18 one if you are receiving Supplemental Security Income in addition to retirement payments.
Seniors who started receiving Social Security benefits prior to May 1997 are also ineligible to receive the payment on September 18. Retirees can expect to receive an average of $1,920 in benefits.
- September 18 is the date of retirement benefit payout (born 11–20)
- September 25 retirement benefit payout (born 21–31)
- October 3 is the date for the payment of retirement payments (for those who have received benefits for more than 27 years or for SSI as well).

Social Security for retirees after September 18
Remember that your retirement payment is due on September 25, 2024, if your birthday falls on or after the 20th. In actuality, that will be the final paycheck for September.
Payments to certain retirees might be more. For instance, you might get up to $2,710 if you filed in 2024 at age 62. You can receive $3,822 per month if you file at Full Retirement Age.
You may receive up to $4,873 if you worked in a high-paying job for 35 years and were covered by Social Security. This will be the biggest payment that can be made prior to the January 2025 COLA hike. Retirees and SSI beneficiaries will not receive the COLA in October; only SNAP participants will.
