An alleged guy in South Carolina is said to have killed his mother, strangled her, and dumped her corpse in a river.
Terry Lee Self Jr., 37, is accused of Regina Arroyo, 56, his mother’s murder. The Lexington County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that they had been looking for the woman’s killer for several months.
“A canoer found the body of the suspect’ smother in the Edisto River Dec. 3,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon stated. “Detectives confirmed the suspect and his mother were at the suspect’s house and left there together after an argument.”
The statement states that Self, a Columbia native, is thought to have “used a ligature to strangle Ms. Arroyo” based on evidence. It appeared that investigators had been working on the case for seven months.
According to local NBC station WIS, Self’s sister Mindy Chrysler, who is also Arroyo’s daughter, had been observing personality irregularities in her brother for months. He had a criminal past, she claimed, and his recent personality swings had her family worried. Soon after Arroyo vanished, she noticed Self driving her brand-new rental car, which made her suspicious of him.
“There was no doubt in my mind. I didn’t want to believe it though, like, who would kill their mother, you know, like my brother wouldn’t have done that,” she stated. “But I denied it, up until [an investigator] told me he had done it.”
Chrysler claimed that Arroyo met her demise as a result of her unwavering efforts to support her son.

“She was always there for him,” she stated. “My mom would always do for him, no matter what he did. She forgave him and would try to help him the best that she could, and she would say, ‘He is my son, what am I to do?'”
Arroyo was hailed as “one of the kindest, selfless, and unquestionably loyal people” by someone on a GoFundMe page that a buddy set up.
“She dedicated her life to help save dogs from countless shelters,” according to the fundraiser. “She didn’t have an easy life, but she certainly made the most of what she had. Regina’s family was her first and foremost … Her children are suffering an indescribable loss. Please let’s give back to Regina the care and compassion she gave to all she met!”
