If you expect to receive a Social Security check in July, the first set of payments should arrive this week. Checks were mailed out on July 1 and should arrive on schedule, unlike last month. If you are still waiting for your June check, there could be several causes for the delay.
Your payment date is determined by your birthday and the day you first received Social Security payments. If you’re unclear, we can assist you figure out the exact date.
When will I receive my July Social Security check?
Here’s the July timetable for Social Security and SSDI payments.
- July 3: Payments to persons who have earned Social Security benefits before May 1997.
- July 10: Payments for birthdays between the first and tenth of any month.
- July 17: Payments for birthdays occurring between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- July 24th: Payments for birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any month.
How do I find out when my payment is due?
Payments are normally sent out by the Social Security Administration on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of each month: Birthdays falling on the first through the tenth Wednesday.
- Second Wednesday : People born on the first through the tenth.
- Third Wednesday: birthdays falling between the 11th and 20th.
- Fourth Wednesday: Birthdays falling between the 21st and the 31st.
A few outliers are shown below, but SSI beneficiaries normally get their checks on the first of the month.

Will my SSI and Social Security benefits arrive on the same day?
The timetable varies if you began receiving Social Security benefits before to May 1997, or if you receive both Social Security and SSI. In these situations, your SSI will be paid on the first of the month and your Social Security on the third.
The payment dates are changed if the first or third day of the month falls on a weekend or holiday. For instance, payments are issued on the next available weekday if the third occurs on a weekend. Since March 3rd fell on a weekend, payments for March were distributed on March 1st rather than the 3rd.
What happens if my check doesn’t arrive?
It is recommended by the Social Security Administration that you wait three more mailing days before calling them if your check does not come on the scheduled date. After then, 800-772-1213 is the number to reach a representative. (Note: Wait times are less on weekdays between 4 and 7 p.m. and from Wednesday through Friday.)
