SSDI Payment Schedule for 2025: Checks Up to $4,018 with COLA Increase

SSDI Payment Schedule for 2025: Checks Up to $4,018 with COLA Increase

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has confirmed that there will be no Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) payments reflecting the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) increase until January 2025. Therefore, beneficiaries should be aware that the COLA-adjusted payments are still a few months away.

Planning for 2025 SSDI Payments

If you are already organizing your financial plans for 2025, it is important to note that the payment schedule for SSDI recipients remains unchanged. The SSA’s arrangement of payment dates for disability beneficiaries will continue to follow the same structure.

First SSDI Payment or Direct Deposit in 2025

The first SSDI payments in 2025 will be issued on January 3, 2025, but only to two specific groups of eligible recipients. Other SSDI beneficiaries will need to wait until the following week for their monthly payments.

The two groups scheduled to receive their payments on January 3, 2025, include:

  • SSDI beneficiaries who began receiving payments prior to May 1997.
  • Recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) who also qualify for SSDI.

For these two groups, the COLA-adjusted SSDI payment will be deposited on January 3, 2025. However, there will be three additional payment dates throughout January 2025 for other SSDI recipients.

Wednesday Payment Schedule for SSDI Recipients

For other SSDI beneficiaries, the specific date of payment will depend on the recipient’s birthday:

  • January 8, 2025: If your birthday falls between the 1st and the 10th of the month, your SSDI payment, reflecting the COLA increase, will be issued on this date.
  • January 15, 2025: If you were born between the 11th and 20th, your payment will be scheduled for January 15.
  • January 22, 2025: The final group of SSDI beneficiaries, those born between the 21st and 31st, will receive their payments on January 22.

SSDI Payment Increase in 2025

Social Security has announced that the average SSDI payment for recipients in 2025 will rise to $1,580, thanks to the 2.5% COLA increase. This is an increase from the current average payment of $1,542.

In summary, SSDI beneficiaries should be aware of the specific payment dates in January 2025, and prepare for the upcoming COLA increase, which will bring some financial relief in the new year.
