Tampa Nightclub Shooting Leaves 1 Injured, 2 Arrested: HCSO Report

Tampa Nightclub Shooting Leaves 1 Injured, 2 Arrested

While on patrol at 1:53 a.m., multiple cops reported hearing gunshots coming from the nightclub, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies got there, they saw a white SUV driving away from the area. Detectives discovered Joar Michel, 39, suffering from a shoulder gunshot wound after conducting an investigation. The white SUV was the subject of a traffic stop by deputies, but the driver refused to halt the vehicle.

To provide surveillance and direct deputies to the suspects’ car, the HCSO Aviation Unit was sent out. Eventually the driver came to a stop sign, where the SUV could be boxed in by deputies to prevent it from running away once more.

The driver, 34-year-old Kenneth Jackson, fled and was apprehended by Tampa Police Department officers. The shooter and passenger, 39-year-old Jafet Rodriguez, was apprehended without any problems, according to HCSO.

“The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office will not stand for any form of violence in our community. These two individuals will be held accountable for their reckless and violent actions,” Sheriff Chad Chronister stated. “Our deputies and law enforcement partners showcased remarkable skill and teamwork in arresting these perpetrators. Let the message be clear: anyone who believes they can bring violence into our community will meet the full force of the law.”
