Following a collision on Friday evening in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported that a woman of 31 years of age had passed away as a result of the incident.
The accident took place just after 7:40, when a Chevrolet Tahoe was approaching Belvedere Road while driving in the other direction on Colonial Drive, according to a press statement.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was trying to cross East Colonial Drive from the median but was not in a marked crosswalk when they walked in front of the vehicle in the westbound lanes of traffic.
According to the troopers, this resulted in the front end of the Chevrolet colliding with the victim.
After the woman was found, she was sent to Orlando Regional Medical Center, but she did not survive her stay there.
The driver, who was 78 years old, did not sustain any injuries, according to the investigators, and he remained at the scene.
