According to state troopers, a crash on Interstate 95 near the Florida-Georgia line resulted in the tragic deaths of three children, including a 10-year-old.
The incident occurred around 7:40 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, in Nassau County, north of Jacksonville, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
At the scene, the 10-year-old, 12-year-old, and 14-year-old lost their lives, while two others sustained critical injuries, according to the troopers. The children involved in the crash have not yet been identified.
Investigators shared that a sedan carrying six individuals was traveling south on the highway when, for an unknown reason, the driver stopped in the center lane of the bridge separating Georgia and Florida.

Two other passengers, a 47-year-old and a 14-year-old, sustained critical injuries, although their current conditions were not known as of Monday, July 3.
The occupants of the sedan were identified as residents of Bay Shore, New York, a hamlet located on the South Shore of Long Island.
The 23-year-old driver of the SUV, hailing from Apex, North Carolina, experienced minor injuries, according to the troopers.
Additional information has not been released by the authorities.
