A homeless woman who had been seen almost a year prior was discovered dead inside a bag. Currently, detectives in Seattle, Washington, are attempting to ascertain the cause of death for 37-year-old Shannon Marie Caslin Reeder as well as the identity of the person who placed her in the suitcase.
According to Tim Emerson, program director for the homeless assistance organization We Heart Seattle, “it was absolutely one of the most heinous, disgusting things that I’ve ever heard,” as reported by Seattle ABC station KOMO. “It’s hard to believe that a human being could do something like that to another human.”
The discovery took place in the midst of another event in which a man was shot and hurt close to a homeless camp in Seattle’s Dr. Jose Rizal Park.

As outreach and law enforcement personnel worked to disperse the camp, they came across the suitcase and the gruesome remains in a mound of rubbish on September 27. According to reports, Emerson claimed that violence was common in the area.
“There’s always a worry and a concern,” he stated. “You always just have to be smart, watch your backs and know who you’re dealing with and when to walk away.”

Reeder’s death is allegedly being investigated, and investigators are looking for anyone who saw or spoke with her within the previous 12 months. The last documented sighting, according to the Washington State Patrol, occurred in November 2023.
“Anyone with information, that might be helpful in finding out what happened to Shannon, or who might have knowledge of who may have been involved in her untimely death and the callous disposal of her remains are asked to call Detective John Ford at 425-401-7742 or Detective Ivan Sergeev at 425-401-771,” authorities stated.
