Eight firefighters were taken to the hospital on Thursday night following a rollover collision on an Orange County roadway. The California Highway Patrol reports that the collision happened in Irvine just before 7 p.m. on the 241 toll road close to SR-133.
According to the authorities, an object dumped onto the road caused the approaching truck to veer off course. The car overturned after making the maneuver and colliding with a railing.
The vehicle contained eight firefighters at the time. These were the crews that had been fighting the Trabuco Canyon Airport Fire.
According to CHP, the crash left two firemen with moderate injuries and six firefighters with serious injuries. For emergency care, they were all taken to nearby trauma centers and hospitals.
“We ask that you pray for our firefighters and their families,” Brian Fennessy, fire chief of the Orange County Fire Authority stated. “All the families have been notified. This is the beginning of a long road for many of those firefighters and our fire departments.”
The lanes are blocked by an overturned fire engine, and there is a lot of debris strewn all over the place.

The collision did not involve any other automobiles. The Orange County Fire Authority Santiago Hand Crew was the owner of the truck. On Thursday night, six firefighters are still in serious condition.

At Irvine Boulevard, the northbound on-ramps for SR-133 are closed, and the northbound lanes on the 241 are closed.
