Authorities in Pompano Beach confirmed that a 2-year-old girl had died after being retrieved from a pool at a house on Thursday.
Sinai Cabrera was her name, which the Broward Sheriff’s Office made public on Friday. A call regarding a probable drowning sent deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue to the 1600 block of Northeast First Avenue just after noon, according to BSO.
In audio that was released on Friday, a loved one can be heard saying to a 911 dispatcher, “Please, the baby fell in the pool — we found her.”
The dispatcher inquired, “How long was she in the pool?”
The caller answered, “We don’t know.”
The toddler was retrieved from the water by family members, according to the authorities.
“Deputies learned the victim’s mother had found the child unresponsive in the pool,”BSO spokeswoman Miranda Grossman stated. “Family members pulled the victim from the pool and immediately began CPR until deputies took over.”

After being taken to a local hospital by paramedics, Miranda added, Sinai was declared dead.
The BSO’s Crime Scene and Homicide divisions are currently looking into what led up to the drowning. Playing dirty is not suspected.
