Ramada Inn Incident Guest Accused of Fatally Shooting Employee, Wounding Co-worker

Authorities detained a 39-year-old man who they said shot two employees of the Ramada Inn, killing one and wounding the other.

Mohammed Sahariar and another male were found suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds when police arrived at the Ramada Inn on Two Bridges Road on October 4, according to the Fairfield Police Department.

While his coworker, who remained nameless, was brought to the hospital in severe condition, Sahariar was declared dead at the scene. After the shooting, Tyrone Malcolm, the suspect, left the area.

Malcolm was apprehended on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, unauthorized weapon possession, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, according to Fairfield Police, who added that the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force had located Malcolm in Middletown, New York.

He is awaiting return to New Jersey through extradition.

NJ.com notes When the shooting happened, Malcolm and his girlfriend were visiting the Ramada Inn.

Malcolm is said to have shot Sahariar in the head as he was sitting in the manager’s office, while the employee who made it out apparently took a bullet wound to the chest.

According to reports, Malcolm and Sahariar were strangers before the incident.
