Due to a mislabeled ingredient that was not disclosed, a Minnesota company is recalling 4,620 pounds of liquid egg products.

The Fair Meadow Foundations Whole Eggs with Citric Acid product, which contains milk, a known allergen that is not disclosed on the product label, is being recalled in approximate quantities of 4,620 pounds by the M.G. Waldbaum Co. of Gaylord, Minn., doing business as Michael Foods Inc.

Following production on June 11, 2024, 32-ounce cartons were shipped to restaurants and other institutions in Alabama, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, and Utah, according to the FSIS. Michael Foods is a company that makes food for restaurants, hotels, hospitals, and other institutions.

The food company found out about the issue when it saw that there was an excess of Breakfast Blend Scrambled Egg cartons in its inventory and that some Whole Egg with Citric Acid cartons were missing.

When the company discovered that the unaccounted-for Whole Egg with Citric Acid cartons were used in a brief manufacturing run of Breakfast Blend Scrambled Egg, which contains milk as an ingredient, it contacted the FSIS.

The Food and Drug Administration mandates that allergens, including milk, be listed on product labels.

According to the FSIS, there have not yet been any verified reports of negative reactions brought on by consuming these items.

Which egg product was just recalled?

Fair Meadow Foundations Whole Eggs with Citric Acid, 32-ounce cartons with a use-by date of September 16, 2024, were recalled due to the presence of milk, an allergen not mentioned on the container.

Within the USDA mark of inspection, the cartons bear the lot code 4162G and the establishment number “EST. G1455.”

The Food Safety and Inspection Service is worried about products that might be kept in restaurant or other establishment refrigerators. The agency recommended that instead of being served, these products be thrown away or returned to the original retailer.

The organization stated that even if no illnesses have been reported, anyone who is worried about a sickness or injury should get in touch with a healthcare professional.

The FSIS advised anybody with inquiries concerning the recall to get in touch with Michael Foods Inc.’s director of customer service, Kristina Larsen, at 952-258-4903 or [email protected].
