After being struck and murdered by a car on Friday morning in Georgia, five children from Utah are left without a mother. Leslie Schwendiman and her fiancé Steven Olsen went to her cousin’s wedding in Forsyth, Georgia.
On Friday morning, while strolling together, Schwendiman’s son reported that a teenage driver who was driving too quickly came around a bend and struck them from the back.
Schwendiman, 53, passed away. A brain leak forced Olsen into the hospital.
One of Olsen’s five children, Parker Olsen, stated, “Physically, he will be OK. We’ll continue to monitor him and make sure he knows he’s loved and cared for.”
On Sunday morning, Olsen was allowed to return to the Beehive State by plane after being discharged from the hospital.
He got home at about five o’clock. He was grieving but safe.
Parker Olsen’s younger sister Tember Olsen said about her brother, “A broken heart is hard to heal but he’s strong. He’s the best dad we could’ve asked for.”
The two families gather under one roof, comforting one another, and waiting for word from Georgia while Olsen heals.
