Violence Hits South Los Angeles Deadly Shooting Near Leimert Park Metro Station

Early on Saturday morning, authorities in South Los Angeles discovered a guy who had been shot and died, close to a LA Metro station.

The address for the transportation agency’s Leimert Park station is 4330 Crenshaw Boulevard. At 12:18 a.m., officers responded to a report of gunfire at this location, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

When police arrived, they discovered a man in a neighboring parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. According to authorities, paramedics declared the victim deceased at the site.

According to the LAPD, there may have been gang involvement in the shooting. Nothing has been made public regarding the gunman, who is still at large.

According to LA Metro, the shooting took place in a parking lot and is unrelated to the transportation company. There were several violent incidents committed on Metro buses and trains earlier this year.

Three passengers died from April to June: in April, a woman was fatally slashed in the throat on a train near Studio City; in May, a man was shot and murdered on a bus in Commerce; and in June, a man was shot and killed by someone who approached him as his train was leaving a stop in South LA.

Authorities have not yet disclosed any additional information regarding the fatal gunshot that was reported early on Saturday.
