On Interstate 49 in Caddo Parish, a man with many warrants issued outside of Louisiana was taken into custody.

Around 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) learned that Carlos Jose Hernandez, 37, was traveling south on I-49 from Arkansas. Deputies saw a car that fit the suspect’s description while traveling on the freeway.

The car was stopped by a cop on I-49 at Louisiana Highway 169.

Hernandez was brought to Caddo Correctional Center after being apprehended without incident. He was listed on a homicide warrant from Oakland County, Michigan, as well as other warrants from Ohio for alleged armed robbery.

The death of a 72-year-old man is the basis for the latter charge.

Hernandez and his partner allegedly pretended to be utility workers in order to enter the victim’s home. The victim’s 72-year-old wife was discovered by deputies with her hands wrapped with duct tape and tied up.

“Suspect number one in the Rochester Hills homicide, Carlos Jose Hernandez 37, has been charged with murder among other charges,” the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office stated on Facebook. “We will be seeking his extradition from Louisiana as we continue the hunt for his accomplice.”
