In two distinct incidents on Sunday night, a 12-year-old and several teenagers were shot, according to Chicago police.
Witnesses reported to the police that at approximately 9:46 p.m., three teenagers were standing outdoors in the 200-block of West Pershing Avenue when the first shooting occurred.
A suspect exited the car as it came to a stop and opened fire. According to the police, the suspect then returned to the car and drove away.
According to authorities, three people were hurt: a 15-year-old girl was hurt in the leg, a 15-year-old boy was shot in the upper back, and a 17-year-old girl was hurt in the arm. In good health, the three teenagers were brought to Comer Children’s Hospital.
In the second shooting, authorities stated that at approximately 11 p.m., an unknown vehicle approached and someone inside fired shots while the 12-year-old girl was a passenger in the car in the 2500-block of West Division Street.
According to the authorities, the girl was shot in the right leg and left calf.
Following the incident, the father claimed to have driven his daughter directly to Ascension St. Mary Hospital, where her health is stated as good.
He claimed that a car that was traveling erratically had past him. A few blocks later, he heard gunfire directed towards his car, though he’s not sure if it was the same vehicle that had been pursuing him.
Furthermore, he is unsure of the connection between it and the road rage. Detectives from Area One are conducting an investigation, but no one is in arrest in relation to either shooting.
