One person was hospitalized, and two individuals lost their lives in three separate and unrelated shootings in Jacksonville on Wednesday night, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

In the New Town shooting incident, JSO’s Sergeant Reed reported that around 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the Kings Road and Whitner Street area in response to reports of a person being shot.

Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was transported to a local hospital by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Reed mentioned that JSO’s homicide and crime scene detectives, along with the State Attorney, responded to the scene to interview witnesses, survey the area for surveillance footage, and continue the investigation.

In the Southside shooting, Reed stated that at approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were called to the 9500 block of Amarante Circle following reports of another person being shot.

According to Reed, “they received additional information from 911 callers about a description of a vehicle the suspects were in.” This information was received while the cops were on their way to their destination.

According to the Jamaica Sheriff’s Office, officers discovered the car that matched the description that was provided and executed a traffic stop on it.

At the same time, more officers were already present at the site, “tending to the victim with JFRD.” According to the police, the unidentified deceased was pronounced dead at the spot, and the individuals who were inside the vehicle were brought into custody without any incidents occurring.

JSO’s homicide and crime scene investigators, along with the State Attorney, responded to initiate an inquiry.

According to the police, they engaged with witnesses and conducted a thorough search of the area for surveillance footage. Additionally, detectives are in conversation with the individuals inside the vehicle, as mentioned by Reed.

Regarding the Spring Park shooting, Reed reports that on Wednesday around 7 p.m., the sheriff’s office received information about a gunshot victim brought to Wolfson’s Hospital, later transferred to Shand’s Hospital for further treatment.

The victim, an unidentified 19-year-old man, sustained a single gunshot wound to the groin, deemed non-life-threatening.

The man informed the police that the incident took place on Spring Park Road in Jacksonville’s Southside. However, JSO states they were unable to locate a crime scene or discover any supporting evidence.

An ongoing active investigation is underway regarding the shooting.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. For those wishing to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers can be reached at 1-866-845-TIPS.
