Authorities discovered the possible remains of the 37-year-old man’s 45-year-old missing wife last week, and the man is currently being held.

Human remains were found during the search warrant execution by the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office at a Pendleton Drive property early on Wednesday, August 14.

The victim, Elsie Wiggington, was last reported missing on June 26, 2023, more than a year ago, according to investigators. The medical examiner’s confirmation of a positive identification is awaited by the sheriff’s office.

Elsie Wiggington’s remains were discovered beneath a concrete slab on the land where she and her husband, Frederick Wiggington, had resided, according to family members who spoke with WSET-TV.

Elsie Wiggington allegedly texted her foster sister three days prior to her abduction, saying, “He’s going to kill me,” according to WSLS-TV. The victim’s foster sister did not hear from her again after that.

Frederick Wiggington was apprehended by the authorities after they discovered him in Augusta County, initially accused of hiding a deceased body.

On the other hand, documents indicate that he is also being held in the Amherst County Detention Center on charges of assault and first-degree murder.
