As the fifth week of the 15-year-old Alaina Hendricks search approaches, her family in Campbell County is in a desperate search for information.

Hendricks ran away with another girl while residing in a group home in Henrico, and no one has seen her since. As the days pass and she doesn’t communicate with her family, they become more and more worried.

Alaina’s aunt and guardian, Cybil Nance, stated that, “As a parent, your clock doesn’t stop. You’re constantly worrying. The days, evenings, and weekends we go with no contact—we just sit and wait.”

Hendricks was last seen with another female, Hailey Yost, inside a Sweet Frog store in Glen Allen, Virginia, prior to their joint escape.

“We got a phone call that she went missing, and that law enforcement had been contacted,” Nance stated. “I asked if they were pressing for information since she was the last person to be with my child.”

Nance claims that Hendricks would never disappear for this long without getting in touch with someone, so she has been searching for him.

“She always reaches out to someone—whether it’s me, her uncle, or our two children, who are like siblings to her. The fact that she hasn’t reached out to anyone is very concerning,” Nance stated.

The fact that Hendricks is not taking her medication worries the family as well. In order to bring her home safely, the family is now requesting assistance from the community.

Nance stated that, “We just need her to know that she’s loved and capable of being loved. We need to know that she’s safe. If she is running, fair enough, but we need to know that she’s okay.”

Although Henrico Police and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office have said that they are aggressively pursuing leads in this case, they are currently unable to provide the public with much information.

A family friend and community advocate named Victoria Seal said, “We are asking the community and law enforcement to not forget about Alaina. We are asking the community to share her story and help us find her so we can bring her family some closure.”

Crime Stoppers at (888) 798-5900 or the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office at (434) 592-9580 are asked to speak with anyone who has information regarding her whereabouts.
