Following an early morning gunshot at a birthday celebration in west Phoenix, a man has died and an adolescent is being held. Police in Phoenix were called to reports of gunfire near 91st Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road about 2:45 a.m.

When the police came, they discovered a shot guy who they identified as 22-year-old Luis Angel Carranza. Carranza passed away right there. The 16-year-old suspect, according to the police, was taken into custody there.

Detectives said that during a birthday party at a house, Carranza got into an argument with the teenager and was shot.

Abigail claims to have heard a party being held at a nearby house and that she lives close to the scene of the incident. Abigail reports that about 2:30 or 2:45 a.m., she heard three gunshots in the vicinity of the party.

“At first I thought, I didn’t think anything of it. I thought it was like fireworks or part of the party. but then it kind of got serious. It wasn’t a party anymore; I didn’t hear laughing and all that. And so that’s when I looked outside. I saw a bunch of people in front of the house and then that’s when the police came. That’s when I was like oh yeah something happened,” she stated.
