Woman Loses Consciousness as Boyfriend Fatally Attacked with Bat Police Report

According to the allegations, a 20-year-old lady in Texas killed her lover by allegedly “blacking out” and waking up covered in blood, while the victim was fatally assaulted with a baseball bat and stabbed in the neck.

According to investigators, McKenzie Renee Eary was arrested on Friday night and charged with one count of murder in connection with the horrifying death of Gregory Mandle Bobenouax II, age 24.

Officers responded to a 911 emergency call from The Palms apartment complex in the 800 block of Ridgewood Drive, some 250 miles east of Austin, at approximately 9:30 p.m. on October 18, 2024, according to a news release from the Port Neches Police Department.

Officers were informed on the way to the scene that one of the individuals engaged in the incident was already at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas, and the other was “possibly deceased in an apartment at the complex.”

First responders reported that when they arrived at the incident, they went inside the apartment and found a dead adult male victim, later identified as Bobenouax, lying on the blood-stained floor of the living room.

“Based on evidence observed at the scene, it appeared the male had been stabbed and beaten with a baseball bat,” according to the affidavit.

According to a probable cause document, Bobenouax seemed to have sustained “deep puncture” to one side of his neck and “massive blunt force trauma to his head and neck.”

While other officers went to the hospital to talk to Eary, who was receiving treatment after claiming to have been the victim of an assault, officers at the apartment complex gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses.

In a police interview, Eary said that she got into a dispute with Bobenouax, her live-in boyfriend and the father of her child, when she returned home from work that evening.

Eary stated that Bobenouax choked her so severely that she “blacked out” after striking her in the back of the head with a closed fist at some point during the altercation.

According to reports, Eary said she was drenched in blood when she woke up from the blackout. After that, she called a relative to come rescue her and her child. Eary was then taken to the hospital by the family member.

Several neighbors reported to investigators during police interviews that they could hear the couple fighting in their flat.

An old woman reportedly showed up at the couple’s house after the altercation appeared to have stopped. According to reports, several neighbors claimed to have heard the elderly woman shout, “how, how, how, how.”

At the hospital, authorities arrested Eary and took her to Jefferson County Jail, where she was charged with murder. According to the records, she is now being held on a $100,000 bail.

Authorities stressed that the incident is still being investigated.
