Authorities in Birmingham, Alabama have stated that they will pay up to $100,000 in rewards for information that results in the capture of the gunmen responsible for a mass shooting.

Four fatalities and seventeen injuries were reported outside a lounge in the Five Points South Entertainment District on Saturday night. Multiple shooters are being sought for their actions.

At a press conference on Monday, Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmond stated that five of the injured victims were still being treated at the hospital.

The chief stated that while they have received a “significant number” of tips, investigators are still in need of more.

Agent in charge of FBI Birmingham, Carlton Peeples, made the announcement during Monday’s press conference that the agency is providing a reward of up to $50,000 for information that results in the gunmen’s arrest and conviction.

“If you, or you know someone, who has information about those involved in Saturday’s mass shooting, know that you can remain anonymous,” Peeples stated.

The largest prize offered by Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama, $50,000, was also announced by its chairman, Frank Barefield.

“You can receive up to $100,000 if you have credible information that leads to, one, an arrest, and another, an actual conviction,” Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin stated. “It’s your time to step up. And we need you.”

According to the Mayor, “We cannot give safe harbor or shelter to people who want to just simply kill people. We cannot give them cover. “They should not feel safe in our community — they should not feel safe anywhere.”

The chief threatened the unidentified shooters, saying, “We’re gonna hunt you down and we’re going to arrest you.”  According to authorities, at least one individual at the shooting scene was probably the target.

The rifles that were used were “converted to fully automatic,” according to investigators, Thurmond told. According to the head, fully automatic guns “do not belong on the streets” on Monday.

After being wounded, Gabriel Eslami said he heard the gunshots while standing in a huge line outside the bar.

“There’s bodies on the sidewalk. There’s smoke from the guns,”. He said, comparing the situation to a “horror movie.”

Eslami said he was hurried to the hospital by a friend.

Three of the four fatalities have been identified by the police: Anitra Holloman, age 21, Tahj Booker, age 27, and Carlos McCain, age 27.
