NEW ORLEANS — A 14-year-old boy was arrested after his mother reported him to the police for being wanted in connection with the killing of an 18-year-old this week.
On Monday, June 26, at 2:45 p.m., the New Orleans Police Department responded to a shooting incident in the 2500 block of St. Claude Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound, who later succumbed to his injuries.
The victim was identified as Revell Andrews by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office, which determined the cause of death to be gunshot wounds.
On June 28, the New Orleans Police issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) bulletin, revealing that detectives from the Homicide Section had identified a person and a black Mazda SUV believed to be involved in the shooting.
The initial statement clarified that the individual depicted in the photo was not wanted on criminal charges but was considered to have crucial information related to the case.
Subsequently, the New Orleans Police issued another news release stating that detectives had identified a 14-year-old suspect in the murder and obtained an arrest warrant for the charge of murder. The teenager’s mother turned him in on June 28 at the Fifth District Station, and he was subsequently taken to the Juvenile Justice Center.
