Florida police didn’t have to search long to identify the 15-year-old who has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the enigmatic discovery of a body in a submerged pickup.

The Sanford Police Department stated in a news release on August 21 that Dra’shawn Williams was previously detained on an unrelated allegation.

Williams is charged with killing 22-year-old Brandon Leo, who passed away on July 20 while sitting in the driver’s seat of a pickup vehicle, according to McClatchy News.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, Brandon was meeting an unknown individual for the purpose of selling a pair of headphones,” police stated in july.

“He arrived at the residence located at 1805 West (Third) Street and was waiting in his vehicle in the driveway. At least two unknown individuals approached the driver’s side of Brandon’s truck. During the interaction, Brandon begins reversing out of the driveway, then several gunshots were fired. The truck still in reverse, continues into the retention pond.”

Single-family homes border West Third Street, and maps indicate that the fenced-in pond is located exactly across from Leo’s parking spot. How Williams was connected to the shooting and the length of his detention were not disclosed by the investigators.

The second suspect’s details are still under wraps.
