15-Year-Old Charged with Criminal Mischief After Mall Fireworks Chaos

WELLINGTON, Fla. — According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, a 15-year-old boy has been accused of setting off fireworks inside a men’s bathroom at the Mall at Wellington Green.

This incident caused a state of panic among multiple individuals who mistook the sound of the fireworks for gunshots, as stated by PBSO.

As a result, the mall was temporarily placed on lockdown for over three hours.

CBS12 News reported on the event on Saturday afternoon.

They mentioned that the fireworks were ignited around 5:05 p.m., prompting responses from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and PBSO units.

During the chaos, one person sustained injuries from a fall.

PBSO later located the 15-year-old boy and took him into custody, charging him with Felony Criminal Mischief. He was booked into the JAC Center.
