Authorities reported that a Florida Keys sheriff’s deputy was taken into custody by her employer on Wednesday on suspicion of more than a dozen computer crimes.
A short news statement issued by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday afternoon stated that Deputy Jennifer Ann Ketcham, 40, was charged with 19 felonies for misusing computers, computer networks, and electronic equipment while working for the law.
“Ketcham used law enforcement databases to look up information for personal reasons beyond the legal scope of her employment as a Deputy,” Linhardt stated.
The authorities did not provide further details regarding the specifics of the accusations. Ketcham was employed on June 2, 2021, according to Linhardt; she was placed on administrative leave without pay while an internal investigation was conducted, and a $1.9 million bail was posted.
“I am committed to keeping this community informed of significant events that occur in this agency — good and bad,” Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay stated in Wednesday’s news release.

As of Wednesday afternoon, she had not been placed in a jail.
