In the capital murder case, a Texas man is being jailed on $1 million bond after allegedly murdering his pregnant wife. According to Houston authorities, on October 7, Lee Gilley, 38, murdered his wife, Christa Gilley, 38, in their house.

The woman was “unresponsive” when police arrived at the couple’s home after receiving a suicide report, according to officials. According to police, she was declared dead at a nearby hospital.

According to authorities, hospital officials observed “bruising and apparent trauma to her face.”

“An autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences ruled Ms. Gilley’s manner of death as a homicide and the cause due to compression of the neck. The autopsy also revealed Ms. Gilley was about eight weeks pregnant,” police stated.

According to jail records, Lee Gilley was taken into custody on October 11 and is currently being held at the Harris County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Ed McClees, Gilley’s lawyer, indicated on Friday that his client is “devastated” by the passing of his wife, who was also the mother of their two children together.

“Christa was an amazing mother, full of love, and excited to welcome her third child,” the family stated. “They were taken from this world needlessly and way too early. Christa’s family appreciates the outpouring from the community and hopes for justice for their daughter and their unborn grandchild.”

Court documents state that if Gilley posts bond, he will be monitored by GPS and will not be able to communicate with his children or his wife’s relatives unless the family court permits it.
