After killing his fiancée on Christmas Eve, a California man was found guilty of murder after discovering her tortured and with tattoos that officials said contained “degrading words.”
According to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, Alisen Takacs-Escobar was discovered dead on December 24, 2021, in the residence she lived with Saul C. Nava, 24.
Nine felony charges, including first-degree murder, torture, kidnapping, aggravated mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of child pornography, and causing bodily harm to a current or former cohabitant, led to Nava’s conviction on Tuesday.
According to authorities, Nava contacted 911 to request medical assistance, and cops arrived at the couple’s apartment in Thousand Oaks, California, a northwest community close to Los Angeles.
When first responders got to the house, they discovered Takacs-Escobar dead and with wounds “all over her body.”
“She suffered from extensive bruising, the top of her head had a large laceration and degrading words were newly tattooed on the center of her chest,” according to the district attorney’s office.
According to authorities, Nava was taken into custody at the house. Police found a tattoo kit among other shocking items during their investigation.
Additionally, police discovered a screwdriver, hammer, and baseball bats. According to the district attorney’s office, Nava tortured and afflicted her with the instruments “for days.”
Hours prior to Takacs-Escobar’s passing, police claimed that footage on Nava’s phone showed the 24-year-old boyfriend “taunting her and displaying no concern for her worsening condition.”
According to authorities, Nava had previously tormented ex-girlfriends, which was discovered during a follow-up inquiry. He “confined her to a closet” and beat her repeatedly, according to one ex-girlfriend.
“At one point, she tried to run away, but Nava found her and threatened her with a knife until she got into his vehicle,” the district attorney’s office stated.

He allegedly persuaded Nava’s ex-girlfriend to have an abortion after she became pregnant at the age of 17.
“She was punched in the face, choked and secretly filmed having sex with Nava,” the district attorney’s office stated. “The abuse finally stopped when Nava started dating Ms. Takacs-Escobar during the summer of 2021”
“Although this result cannot erase the immeasurable pain the defendant inflicted on the victims and their families, we hope that this brings some measure of closure to see him held accountable for his horrific crimes,” Senior Deputy District Attorney David Russell stated.
