Prosecutors reported that the driver of a Maserati in Washington, D.C., who shot at a woman’s car after being cut off, then turned around and fired at onlookers, received a sentence of more than 32 years in jail on Monday.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia announced in a statement that Kenneth Miles Davis Jr. shot the woman in the arm during the road rage incident on May 19, 2021. According to authorities, the woman’s children, ages five and eleven, were in her vehicle.

The 45-year-old Davis was found guilty in January by a jury of one count of assault with the intent to murder while armed, three charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, and four counts of having a firearm during a violent crime.

As per Marnitta L. King, his attorney, Davis has already notified the court that he will file an appeal. “Mr. Davis will persist in his efforts to demonstrate his innocence,” she declared.

About five o’clock in the evening, according to authorities, Davis, believing he had been cut off in traffic, got out of the Maserati GranTurismo and opened fire into the woman’s vehicle.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Davis fired 13 shots, six of which were directed towards the woman’s car and seven towards onlookers. The woman was the only person shot. Broken glass injured the 5-year-old.

According to an affidavit for a police arrest request, the woman whose car was shot recognized Davis from a lineup of police photos, adding, “I’m positive, my heart is pounding,” and “it was him.”

Davis maintained his innocence and stated he didn’t think he got a fair trial in a letter to the judge that was filed into the record in May.
