Authorities claimed on Monday that during the weekend, while President Joe Biden was campaigning in Los Angeles, a Secret Service agent was robbed at gunpoint in California.

A news release from Tustin police, which is located south of Los Angeles, stated that at approximately 9:36 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a report of a possible robbery. According to the police, they discovered that the victim was a Secret Service agent and that “his bag was stolen at gunpoint.”

There was later discovery of some of the agent’s possessions in the vicinity. There are no confirmed suspects.

An agent who was not on duty was returning from a job when the incident occurred, and he brandished his firearm, according to a statement from a Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

“The employee discharged their service weapon during the incident but unknown if the assailants were struck. We are thankful that the employee did not sustain any injuries.” Guglielmi stated.

Police in Tustin acknowledged the inquiry but remained silent on Monday night.

The agent’s name is not public knowledge. The incident happened the evening that Biden appeared at a fundraiser in Los Angeles with former President Barack Obama, actors George Clooney and Julia Roberts, and comedian Jimmy Kimmel.

The event was Democrats’ largest fundraising event, raising a record $30 million, according to Biden’s reelection campaign.
